The Rosebud R.S.L. was founded on 6 May 1946, with approximately 80 members. From humble beginnings, the Club quickly established itself as an important part of the Rosebud community.
Initially, meetings were held in the local schoolroom before the R.S.L. leased the Rosebud Yacht Club premises in the late 1940s. Following years of negotiations, the Club moved to new premises in Rosebud Parade in 1952.
In 1974, the R.S.L. purchased five blocks of land and constructed the Club building that became the foundation of our current home.
Today, Rosebud R.S.L. has grown to more than 5,500 members, while remaining true to its original purpose – supporting veterans, their families, and the wider community. In recent years, the Club has contributed more than $700,000 annually to veteran and community initiatives, supported by the outstanding efforts of our volunteers.
Our history is proudly reflected throughout the Club. In 2019, Blackbook Ink created our impressive 33-metre mural, celebrating our veterans, history, and community. More recently, a striking World War I soldier sculpture, carved by Brandon Kroon, was added to our memorial area.
Since 2020, we have continued to invest in our facilities and member experience, including our new kids’ area, providing a welcoming space for families.
From 80 members in 1946 to the vibrant Club, we are today, Rosebud R.S.L. continues to honour its past, support its community and build for the future.
